The First Cut is The Deepest: Overcoming your Vinyl Cutting Fear
Let me guess, you’re new to the vinyl craft, you’re excited to start using your new Cricut or Silhouette machine, you just got your first shipment of vinyl and are scared to make your first cut? Well don’t worry, HTV World has your back!
Don’t be scared, this is the beginning of a grand adventure that will change your life! Ok, maybe it won’t change your life but it will sure make it more fun! Check out three tips we think will help you gain the courage to make your first cut!
Tip #1 – Check Your Blade
If your machine is new, you probably don’t need to worry about having a dull blade. If you bought your machine used or you’ve had it for a while, you might want to look into getting a new blade.
Tip #2 – Check Your Settings
Make sure your settings are the same in real life as they are on your computer. If you’re using a mat, make sure your mat is showing up in your design program. Check out out website for cut settings charts.
Tip #3 – Do a Test Cut
Doing a test cut is the secret to success! A test cut will give you a preview of how your project will cut. Doing a test cut will save you so much vinyl and so much time. Trust us, you will thank us later!
